Making Odyssey
Odyssey takes you on a journey through three trees and is chock-full of adventure, lounging areas, and active options for fun! Barbara’s artist sketch gives everyone a sense of how the finished project will look before the construction begins.
This aerial view shows how the project will fit into the existing landscape and where the stunning 61-foot zip line will go. Odyssey connects the existing trees to create a unique and inviting structure.
Fabrication takes place at our shop to minimize time on-site. Here, the intricate sides of the 6′ x 8′ tree deck are assembled by hand.
Our method means that each component can be detached for travel and reassembled at the chosen tree.
Each of our structures are built using sustainably grown redwood lumber as part of our commitment to creating safe, healthy, and environmentally-friendly treehouses.
The wacky angles are perfectly calibrated to fit the yard’s one-of-a-kind landscape and foliage and also exude a whimsical blend of elegant and playful.
The last step is to apply our signature non-toxic tung oil stain to the wood which gives it a deeply saturated color that still allows the natural grain to shine through. Odyssey is decked out in Black Olive, a hue that Barbara originally created to match a tree. While it may look all black in this image, hints of rich brown and deep green show up in the sunlight. In addition, this treatment protects the structure from the elements. Stay tuned for installation pics next!
