On the Erie Canal - Gallery

Along the banks of the Erie Canal, our BBAB play pieces are seamlessly integrated with concrete mules and old-fashioned barrels from another vendor. Together, they form an invitation to both play and learn about the area’s history.

With New York’s State Motto hand-carved into her hull, this barge is ready to journey back through time to the days of hauling anything from lumber, barrels of apples, or cloth to families making a Westward move.

For youngsters that do not yet have their sea legs, a seeming stack of shipping containers reveals itself to be a toddler-friendly climbing area with a gentle slide.

Every barge needs a good navigation system, so Rudi paints a faithful replica of a historical compass for the young captains who will be steering this boat.

Here’s the view of the captain’s quarters, with the mule team at the ready. Thanks to our signature natural tung oil stain, this boat’s hues are both eco-friendly and durable.

The two structures sit side-by-side, ensuring that kids of all ages can engage in developmentally appropriate fun.

The hand-carved, wooden captain’s wheel provides a pleasing tactile experience while also stimulating children’s creativity.

All play structures are made from redwood lumber, construction heart grade or better, grinded smooth and then stained completely inside and out with non-toxic, tung oil stains and finished with clear tung oil as a top coat (unless otherwise specified).
