Fort Bing - Gallery

Fort Bing is created with toddlers in mind. A slide comes off the 3' high deck with redwood side "wings" to push off from. Below the deck, a crawl tube offers a different sensory experience.

A fun set of stairs with 5-stringer railings lead to the upper deck. The transfer platform accommodates children in wheelchairs according to the ADA Handicap Guidelines for children in wheelchairs.

The main tower deck provides a shady, magical space for toddlers to conquer. The circle-square-triangle pattern is repeated throughout the play structure and is the logo for the school.

The side railings of the upper deck repeat the circle-square-triangle pattern as cut-outs. The pickets on the lower part of the railing allow the teachers to see all the kids on the deck from any angle.

The crawl tube offers both adventure and safety to curious toddlers. Bolts are covered with decorative metal plates and the corner footing posts are routed and fitted with metal "sleeves" so that the redwood does not come in contact with concrete and wet earth.

Barbara is a certified Playground Safety Inspector and makes sure that the play structure not only meets all the ASTM and CPSC codes, but also plays well!

The play structure is designed to blend into the yard from a distance.

Looking up is fun on a sunny day as dappled light pours through and creates patterns on the floor.

All play structures are made from redwood lumber, construction heart grade or better, grinded smooth and then stained completely inside and out with non-toxic, tung oil stains and finished with clear tung oil as a top coat (unless otherwise specified).
