Oakland Hills Ramble Logs
For a kid, there’s nothing more magical than scrambling across a log bridge. Building a safe and beautiful log bridge, however, requires a different type of magic: team work!
The BBAB team moves the massive, 400-pound tree trunk down the steep yard as a group effort. The narrow, stepped entrance precludes using anything with wheels to help with this task.
Next, the log is hoisted up into the correct position where it sits on pre-cut notches which hold it in place. At 10 feet long, this is no easy task!
Here, Barbara and the crew fine-tune the log bridge.
A last adjustment to the log’s length is carefully done with the help of a chainsaw.
Final measurements by Barbara check for the height of the rope net railing that goes along the log. Next week: installation!
