Adventure in the Clouds on Kids Skyway

Spring is here and what better way to celebrate then on a magical play structure in the sun?

Built for the grandchildren of a favorite client of ours, Barbara worked closely with the family to perfectly fit this custom play structure into their yard and lives.

Featuring ‘Loops of Play’, Barbara’s favorite design feature, this structure encourages movement and imaginative play for hours.

Aptly named the Skyway by the kids, we think this structure will be the highlight of their summer!

Let’s take a look at the play features on this structure:

A bright orange rung ladder leads up to a landing platform on the first tower. A chalkboard welcomes you to leave a message or draw a story. If you’re in a hurry to leave, a straight slide provides a quick escape down.

Across the bridge you go, or stop and hang out for a while. Just watch out for someone sneaking up the rope net climb!

Bridges are not just part of the journey, sometimes they are the destination. You’ll often find kids lounging on the bridges of our play structures, or conducting battles with those below.

The rope net climb provides a challenging way up or even down from the play structure. Sneak up on your enemy, or just practice your climbing skills. Metal hand grabs help kids on and off at the top of the climb.

The artificial turf has a 2-1/4” foam pad installed under the turf to provide safe landing in case of accidental falls. Barbara helped the family select the right resilient surfacing.

A ship’s ladder with rope net railings is a fun way on and off the upper level of the play structure. With 12” high “big steps”, the ship’s ladder gives younger children an easy way up or down from the structure, while at the same time providing a unique experience - no steps in the house are this big! Ideal for grown ups to join in the fun too!

Not all play is design for movement. Under the bridge you’ll find a belt swing and spider swing, useful for play or reflection. Hand over hand rings provide another physical challenge as do the rock climbs to access them. At the other end of the rings is a rung ladder for easier access.

And let’s not forget the pully bucket, a great way to encourage cooperation in play and get valuble items up to those on the structure.

Attention was paid to every detail on this magical structure during design, building and installation so that it looks and works beautifully for many years to come.
