Dreams Happen Fundraiser

It’s rare to see one of our playhouses with a rope and a “Do Not Climb” sign on it, but in this case it’s for a good cause! The Wizard’s Hideout, seen above, is actually on display prior to the 2007 Dreams Happen Gala, a fundraiser for the non-profit Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP).

At the Gala, playhouses from local architects and builders are auctioned off to benefit RTP, whose mission is to assist low-income homeowners with repairs and maintenance to enhance the safety and comfort of their homes. We believe in this work so strongly that we’ve donated one of our unique playhouses to every Dreams Happen Gala since 1999. Wild Oasis, on the right, was our 2005 donation.

The very first was Medieval Tower, seen here set up in the Stanford Shopping Center where all the structures are displayed for the entire month of May, attracting a 20% increase in foot traffic to the area. Le Petit Chalet, donated in 2001, features a climbing wall and two-story playhouse.

Over the years, the Dreams Happen playhouses have ranged from rugged westerns, like Coyote Creek Outpost, donated in 2009, to the royal Count Rococo’s Castle, donated in 2003.

In 2011, we went with Oblique House, a surprising, modern structure, seen below flanked by lovely ladies ready for the Gala. Our most recent playhouse, Home is Where the Heart Is, was auctioned in 2013. And Barbara’s already cooking up something fantastic for 2015!
